Conclusion
This experiment demonstrated osmosis because we could see what happened to the egg in a hypo tonic solution and with a hyper tonic solution. We observed that the egg after being in corn syrup had shrunk because the water went through the selectively permeable membrane to make equilibrium. Then we saw that the egg in red water had expanded because the water from the outside came into the egg to make equilibrium as well. My hypothesis was supported (see graphs). The data states the mass of the egg before and after and it also shows the volume of the liquid in the beaker before and after. My table tells you what the egg looked like before and after and it also tells you what the inside looked like after. The egg in the red water turned red because of the independent variable (red dye). The dependent variable (egg turns red) is the effect on the egg because of the independent variable.
